Creating a Datadog Read-Only User

To help you migrate from Datadog, Oodle needs read-only access to your Datadog organization. You can grant this by inviting a member of the Oodle onboarding team with the Datadog Read Only Role.

Steps

  1. Go to the Datadog Users settings page.
  2. Click Invite Users.
  3. Enter the email address [email protected].
  4. Under Roles, select Datadog Read Only Role.
  5. Click Send Invite.

Create the account as a username / password based login rather than SSO, so the Oodle onboarding team can sign in directly.

Once the invite is accepted, the Oodle onboarding team will have read-only access to your Datadog organization and can help complete your migration.

note

The Datadog Read Only Role grants view-only access. Oodle cannot modify any of your Datadog configuration, dashboards, monitors, or data.

Creating API and Application Keys for automation

For automated read-only access, Oodle uses a Datadog API key together with an application key scoped to read-only permissions.

Create an API Key

  1. Navigate to Organization Settings, then click the API Keys tab.
  2. Click New Key.
  3. Enter a name for the key, for example oodle.
  4. Click Create API Key.
  5. Copy the API Key and share it with Oodle.

Create an Application Key with read-only scopes

  1. Navigate to Organization Settings, then click the Application Keys tab.
  2. Click New Key.
  3. Enter a name for the key, for example oodle read-only key.
  4. Click Create Key.
  5. Click the Edit button near Scope.
  6. Select the dashboards_read, monitors_read, metrics_read, and timeseries_query scopes.
  7. Copy the Application Key and share it with Oodle.
